Emmett P. Setters, 91, of Lakeview and formerly of Lima, died at 9:28 a.m., Monday, July 2, 2018 at Lima Memorial Health Systems. He was born Mar. 30, 1927, in Covington, KY to Almond and Cova (Seevers) Setters who preceded him in death. On Oct. 22, 1991, he married Doris Anderson who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter: Penny (Wes) Wheeler of Lima; stepchildren: Chris (Elaina) Powell of Findlay, Robert Powell of Dunkirk, Karen Westrick of Findlay and Kathy (Dan) Leary of Findlay; a brother, Verner (Pauline) Setters of Lima; one grandchild, twelve stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Gail Marie Foster McPheron, precedes him in death.
Mr. Setters is a retired welder from Teledyne. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having left high school a year early to serve and then return to graduate from Shawnee High School. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1533, Lakeview. He enjoyed buying and restoring old tractors. He was a “backyard engineer” able to construct or fix anything.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, with Rev. Bryan Bucher officiating, where the V.F.W. Post 1275 and the U.S. Army Honor will conduct military rites. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
