Edna M. Coomes, 87, of Lima died Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Lost Creek Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 27, 1929 in Byesville, Ohio to Joseph and Leafy (Oliver) Hashman who preceded her in death. On April 17, 1948, she married Thomas L. Coomes and he passed away November 2, 1986.
Edna is survived by her children, Perry Coomes of Forest, Philip (Jani) Coomes of Lima, Cathy Coomes of Lima, Sharon Burns of Lima and Teresa Coomes of Marion, Ohio. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren, one step grandchild and two step great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Coomes.
Edna was also preceded in death by a son William Coomes, a daughter-in-law, Carol Coomes, a son-in-law, Paul Burns and her siblings, Robert, Gilbert, William, Paul and Joseph Hashman and Mary Mohler.
Mrs. Coomes was a lifelong homemaker, a member of St Gerard Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery. Family and friends may call Sunday, January 22 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME, where a Parish Wake service will be at 6:00 p.m.
