Dwane Slusher, 79, of Alger, died at 4:39 a.m., Sunday, June 3, 2018 at his residence. He was born Sept. 10, 1938 in Tinsley, Kentucky to Jesse and Georgia Ann (Lockard) Slusher, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 26, 1957, he married Sylvia Goodin who died on Oct. 19, 2007.
Together, they had four children: Donald E. (Barbara) Slusher of Redford, MI, Patricia (Les) Plaugher of Harrod, Dean Slusher of Lima and Lisa Slusher who preceded him in death; he is survived by six grandchildren, Nathan, Jered, Drew, Cole, Jillian and Corbin; and three step grandchildren: Chris, Amy and Gavin. He is also survived by his siblings: Jerry (Linda) Slusher of Lima, Janet Mason and Mary Elizabeth “Lib” (Mickey) Jones both of Kentucky. Dwane was also preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Ann Slusher, a brother Arthur Slusher and a brother-in-law, Rufus Mason.
Dwane had been an assembler at the Lima Ford Engine Plant, where he retired in 2005. He attended Lima Missionary Baptist Church; he loved working puzzles, enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and playing cornhole, but he mostly enjoyed being with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2018 at the Lima Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry Brock and Denny Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Family and friends may call Thursday evening 5:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME 506 N. Cable Rd. Lima. There will also be visitation at the church on Friday June 8, 2018 one hour prior to the service.
