She was born on March 25, 1922 in Royalton, Kentucky to John M. and Dona Allen Wireman who preceded her in death. On August 30, 1937, she married George Willim Young who passed away on February 7, 1987.
Over the years, Betty had been employed at Westinghouse, Rudolph Foods and Zales Jewelers. She was a member of the Waynesfield Baptist Church and it’s Seniors Group. Being born during the Great Depression, Betty was known by many for her strong work ethic. She had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed sharing meals and laughter with family and friends. In their early married years, she and husband George took many boarders into their home. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and looked forward to spending eternity with Jesus. Her love and wisdom is forever etched in the hearts of her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Dean (Kathy) Young and a daughter, Margaret “Bobbi” Beggin both of Lima. Four grandchildren: Kathy (Jim) DeMoss of Lima and Kelly Ray of Elida, Lisa Duff of Winchester, KY, and David (Ebony) Lundgren of Georgetown, TX a step granddaughter: Kecia Rose of Delphos and a step grandson: Brad Beggin. Twelve great grandchildren: Brooke Dudgeon, Lindsay DeMoss, Ashley Ray, Whitney Ray, Aaron Ray, Terry White, Tyler White, Tori White, Taylor White, Chase Lundgren, and twins Alexis and Jayden Lundgren and her step great grandchildren: Gregory Rose, Matthew, Lindsey, Austin, Kara, Garrett,& Gavin Beggin . Four great-great grandchildren (five generations): Lori, Brady and Kenzie Bassett and Michael White; a brother, Ray (Mary Jo) Wireman of Lima and two sisters, Sola Hamilton of Lima and Lucille Wauben of Cridersville, a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, Emma Jordan and Fred “Junior” Young both of Vanceburg, KY.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Edgar Wireman, John Wireman, Jr., Robert “Bob” Wireman and Carl “Bud” Wireman and four sisters: Edna DeRossett, Lola Lamb, Lora Fitzpatrick and Ruth Bowdle, a son-in-law: Jack Beggin and a daughter-in-law: Loretta “Lori” Young and a step grandson: Doctor Bryan Beggin.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Waynesfield Baptist Church with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Monday morning.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, Ohio, to the Waynesfield Baptist Church or to that of the donor’s choice.
