.Ms. AnnieBell “Bell Bell” Durr, 85, of Lima went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2:39 p.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She was born on February 17, 1926 in Hines County, Jackson, Mississippi to Flora Steward and Bob Wells who preceded her in death. She married John Durr who also preceded her in death. Ms. AnnieBell was also preceded in death by her significant other Cornelius Brownlow.
She attended Smith Robertson High School in Jackson, MS. Ms. AnnieBell moved to Lima at the age of 17. She retired from SRMC after 27 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ. Due to her health and age she could not attend services anymore. She was loved by the many that knew her and she also had a special way of identifying all of her grandchildren. She gave them all special nicknames that they will forever be called.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories a son, Jan (Joyce) Durr of Bellefontaine, OH; five daughters, Colleen (Johnny) Hall, Ora (Elton) Cannon, Janice Durr, Cindy Brownlow all of Lima and Tangela (Pastor Keeton) Stewart of Florence, Alabama. She also leaves a sister, Georgia Mae Ellis (Louis Brooks) of Lima. She also raised nine of her grandchildren as her own, Amida (Thomas Hutchins) Durr, Jefferey Durr, Javin Durr, Aleisha Durr, Cedar Durr, Keisha Durr, Dana Durr, Martrevis Brownlow and Cornell Brownlow. She had 38 grandchildren, 119 great-grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Tommy Durr, two sisters-in-law, Cathy Durr and Patricia Durr; and special nieces, L.C. Boyd and JoJo Clark all of Lima.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Owens and John Paul Durr, a daughter, Geraldine (Vivens) Steward, a granddaughter, Cedar Durr, one great grandson, Reggie Pierson, one great granddaughter, Destiny Durr and one great great granddaughter, Areona Durr and a sister, Mrytle Jones.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Michelle, Dr. Rinesmith, Cathy and Bob Fetters and the staff of SRMC for all of their help.
Funeral Service will be conducted Friday, January 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ 705 E Catalpa, Lima, Ohio with Elder Clarence McGriff, officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
