.Alma Jean (Sniff) Hammond 86, passed away at 3:49 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 4, 1929 near Remus, Michigan to Lonie and Wilma (Estes) Sniff and they precede her in death. On November 15, 1947, she married Floyd Hammond who preceded her in death on Sept 20, 2008.
Alma Jean is survived by her children, Linda (Richard) Cunningham, Steven Hammond both of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Carole Bendele of Lima; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, and she is also survived by sisters, Agnes Calhoun, Carol (Allen) Delamater, and a brother-in-law Tom Larson.
She had also been preceded in death by a grandson, Erik Hammond and a sister Ruth Larson and a brother-in-law, Edward Calhoun.
Alma Jean had been a lifetime homemaker, she was a great cook, baking was her forte, she made the best pies and sweets for her family and friends. She loved gardening and canning. Her family and God were the most important things in her life.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Janowicz Funeral Home in Remus, Michigan, visitation one hour prior to the service, with Pastor Randy Piatt officiating. Burial will follow in the Wambolt Cemetery which is also located in Remus.
Local visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME, 506 N. Cable Rd. Lima, Ohio
