He is survived by his two children, Son James Allen Waters of Dawsonville, GA., daughter Sherry Darlene Waters of Marietta, GA., and 5 Grandchildren, Jacob Riordan, Courtney Waters, Mckenna Riordan, Abagayle Waters, and Madelyn Riordan.
James Was born December 3, 1942 in Gainesville Georgia to Grace Louise Crump, and James Russell Waters. James grew up in Atlanta Ga, and Baton Rouge LA. He attended Druid Hills High School in Decatur, GA.
After Highschool he joined the United States Air Force in 1959 and served two tours in Vietnam, totaling 8 years of dedicated service to The United States of America. During his service time he reached the rank of Lt. Colonel, being honorably discharged in 1967. He was a Pilot, flying many missions in multiple countries during his time in the service. He was awarded the Longevity Service Award, Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Received the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
After leaving the service James was a certified flight Instructor teaching ground flight school as well as flying small charter trips out of Charlie Brown and Peachtree Dekalb airports in Georgia.
James worked for Rich’s TV and Electronics repair in Stone Mountain, GA. After working with Richs, James worked for General Electric Medical Services. James was a GE Medical Service Field Engineer covering Georgia, Alabama, And Tennessee. James retired from General Electric in 2008.
Although James did not regularly attend a specific church, he was a Christian man of faith. He loved God, his Children and Grandchildren. In his spare time James loved to be outdoors, He spend many a day Hunting, Fishing, Camping, and Boating with friends and family. Anyone who knew James would say he was a jack of all trades and could fix anything he put his hands on. James was known to do repairs and projects for friends and family. He was willing to help anyone, anytime he could lend a helping hand. He was happy repairing and restoring cars, doing remodeling projects or repairing anything that had broke and needed repairs.
James Arthur Waters will be laid to rest on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 12pm, Arlington Memorial Park 201 Mount Vernon Hwy, N.W. Sandy Springs, Ga. 30328
