Donald Henry Evans, son of the late Mr. James Evans and the late Mrs. Oddie Bell Greene Evans, was born January 12, 1957, in Georgetown, South Carolina. Donald is preceded in death by sisters Ruth and Bertha and brother James. Donald was a graduate of Howard High School (class of 1975). He was also a graduate of the University of New Haven, in Connecticut.
As a young man, Donald was an assistant to his mom. His mom owned and operated a bus service that transported people from Georgetown to Myrtle Beach. Donald was a very hard-working and determined young man. Work ethics was instilled into him and his siblings at an early age, that he maintained throughout his life. His family was very important to him.
Donald was married to Mrs. Harriet Ann Evans. From this union, two children were born (Desiary “Pepper” and Charmime “Fee”). Later in life, Donald married Jerilynn Ward Evans. From this union, one child was born Michael).
In the early 90’s, Donald moved to Atlanta GA. There he began an awesome career, as a Director of The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club. In 2000, he was promoted to a Regional Director role at the Boys and Girls Club of America. He also worked at Professional Medical Home Health Care from 1994 – 2020. (Donald was a “HARD” working man). He went on to retire from Professional; however, hard-working Donald was not done as he began another career working for FODAC (Friends of Disabled Adults and Children) until his untimely passing. Donald was an avid sports fan (basketball and football). His number one team for life was the Los Angeles Rams.
Those who are left to cherish the memory of this hard-working man are: (Wife) Jerilynn, (Sons) Desiary, Michael, Dominique (Daughters) Charmime, Iman, (Sisters) Gloria, Demetra, Latacher (Brother) Samuel (Grandchildren) Devonte, Kyante, Michael, Tajah, Shkia, Jabori, Nyjay, Tatiana, Damontez, Damiyah, Zahyra, Milan (Great Grandchildren) Amir, Jace, Tru (Aunt) one living aunt “Viola H. Greene”; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
Dad,
We had 47 years together. You showed me a lot. I will live up to what you taught me. You were my dad and my brother. I love you and will keep you close in my heart.
