A celebration of life service for Charles will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 500 Harbins Road, Lilburn, GA 30047.

Charles Syrkett entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. Charles was born to the late Mr. Will and Mrs. Ada Andrews Syrkett of Greenwood, SC, on April 30, 1941. He is the last surviving child of this union.
He was a member of Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Epworth Community. Charles was a graduate of Brewer High School Class of 1958. He continued his education at Friendship College in Rock Hill, SC, and graduated Cum Laude from Johnson C. Smith University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. He was initiated as a member of the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi in 1961. Charles was conferred a Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University in 1971. He was active in sports in high school and college, wearing jersey #24, as did his daughter Liana. He was an avid football fan, enjoying the games with his young nephew and brothers-in-law. Family was very important to him, and he was a role model for so many of his nieces and nephews.
Charles served honorably in the United States Army as a Communications Center Operator. Upon his discharge from the military, he began a career in social work with the New York Department of Social Services as a Caseworker. He would later become Director of Freeport Outreach Center for Youth. Charles would relocate to Massachusetts where he accepted a position with Lena Park Community Center. In 2005, he retired as Assistant Director of Foster Care Review with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and soon after moved to Lawrenceville, GA, where he lived the rest of his life.
This kind man is survived by his wife Yvette Quirós-Syrkett of the home; one son, Michael S. Syrkett of St. Louis, MO; four daughters, Shari M. Syrkett of Hempstead, NY, Mecca Syrkett of Gaithersburg, MD, and Aida J. Syrkett and Liana M. Syrkett of Duluth, GA; seven grandchildren; one sister, Ms. Willie M. Carter of Ninety-Six, SC; mother-in-law, Mrs. Mirta L. Quirós of Lawrenceville, GA; several sisters- and brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins to celebrate his life.
