Betty Beusse McCool of Roswell, Georgia passed away peacefully on December 14, 2022. She is survived by her children: Rick McCool (Mary), Mary Saunders (Wes), and Beth McCool (Hank Corriher); six grandchildren: Stephen McCool, Jeff McCool (Jordan), Evelyn Eunson (Dane), Joel Saunders (Maggie), Daniel and Kevin; and eight great-grandchildren: Nolan, Eli, Landrie, Collyns, Jocelyn, Alexander, Declan, Maren. She is pre-deceased by her younger brother Diedrich Beusse, Jr. (2008).
Betty was a native Atlantan born in 1929 to Diedrich and Mary Beusse. She was a proud graduate of Girls’ High School, and attended Wesleyan College. An accomplished musician, Betty was a professional soloist at Druid Hills Baptist and First Methodist Church of Atlanta for many years, and director of children’s and youth choirs at Wieuca Road Baptist Church. She later taught kindergarten, first, middle school grades and was a principal of Ar’lyn Worth School. Betty taught music to hundreds of students in the Decatur and Roswell areas through the private piano studio she maintained for over fifty years.
Betty was a devoted and adored mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who always put her family and their needs above her own. Betty lived as an example of her deep Christian faith, enriching and inspiring others. She gracefully met life’s challenges with courage and strength, independence and optimism. A person of genuine warmth, wit and generosity, she cherished extended family members and many friends (several lifelong). Betty was a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to have known her. In the words of a friend of many decades, “To know Betty was to love her.” She will be deeply missed.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 31st at Noon in the Historic Sanctuary of Roswell Presbyterian Church.
