I had a difficult time writing this because it hurt me so deeply when I heard that Al passed. I was speaking to Debbie about Al on Saturday morning and he passed in his sleep that evening. I had the Privilege of knowing Al for over 45 years and there wasn't a finer human being on the face of this planet than Al Bartlett. Everyone liked Al because he had such a wonderful personality and he treated everyone he met with dignity and respect. Before the Pandemic, I would always stop by the house to see how he was doing after the love of his life Carol, passed. When that happened, Al lost a big part of his sole. We would often meet for breakfast or lunch and Al would tell me how much he missed Carol.  Al mentored me in fumigation and termites in the early years of my business and we became very close friends. We traveled the State and other places together and he would always make me laugh. We fished together for well over 35 years and the stories I can tell about the times we had and some of the things he would do would have you laughing uncontrollably. Several times I would go up to Beech Mountain to help in either winterizing or opening the house up for the summer when Carol didn't want to go. We drove to the Bassmasters Classic in New Orleans right before 9-11 in 2001 and had a great time. Al was always very peculiar where he would eat. If the restaurant didn't look that good from the exterior and meet the Al Bartlett Seal of Approval he wouldn't go in.  After picking him up at 5AM, we drove over 10 hours and 700 miles straight through. Al liked and suggested  the Hampton Inn so we checked in close to the convention center downtown. After driving that far both of us were hungry. So, we start walking around looking for a suitable place to eat. After walking blocks and blocks and him giving a thumbs down to every place we looked at, we heard Cajun Zydeco music coming from a corner restaurant two blocks away. When we got there it looked like the perfect place to eat and listen to great music. Al wasn't too thrilled about the place so I said I'm eating here and so are you because I'm  not walking another ten blocks. Well, after eating and listening to those accordions, guitars and fiddles along with the singing and great food,, Al had a smile on his face a mile long. We even rubbed elbows with some of the biggest names in bass fishing at that time. Albie, I miss you and I hope one day you and I will be able to throw a line again together and joke about the times we once shared. Rest in Peace My Dear Friend! Marianne and I send our sincere condolences to the entire Bartlett family.

Al was a gentleman.  It was a privilege to know him and work with him in the pest control industry.  He was considerate and kind, and had an admirable work ethic.  The fact that he wanted to continue to work with fumigators long into his retirement years is a testament to his devotion to the pest control industry.  May his family find peace that he led a good life and was a wonderful friend and mentor to so many.

So sorry for your loss. I met Al, Carol & Debbie  40 years ago. I always felt comfortable in there office and learned a lot about Pest Control while borrowing drills, clamps or tarps :) We never did get to fish together but always enjoyed talking about it.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Al was a TRUE advocate for our Industry. He strived to be sure everyone he came in contact with through the years knew he always had their back . Every QAR he preformed over the years always was completed with a “visit” to his trunk for crackers & cold drinks! He will be missed & remembered by all.

My condolences to the family for their loss, as I feel it too. Al was a great friend and mentor, to many in this industry and to me. He was a pioneer in this industry with a kind heart, loved by many and always with a good story. He lived as he wanted and enjoyed his profession.
