Mr. Allen was born in Alamance County on March 30, 1936, the son of Floyd and Mozelle Griffin Allen. Throughout his life he worked as a brick mason, a welder, and a draftsman, employed with Basic Machinery in Siler City, Textured Fibers in Liberty, and retiring after 25 years from DeGe, Inc. in Graham. Mr. Allen owned and operated Dodson’s Lake in Liberty for many years. Lynn attended Rocky River Baptist Church and was a member of the Friendship Class for 48 years. Mr. Allen graduated in 1954 from Sylvan High School and enjoyed his class reunions until his health prevented his participation.
Lynn was a simple man who loved farming and loved his family. He enjoyed his grandchildren and his great-granddaughter, and loved sharing family stories. He enjoyed tractors, NASCAR, and especially bluegrass music.
A funeral service will be held Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00 am at Rocky River Baptist Church, 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Siler City with Dr. Greg Burriss officiating; burial will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 18 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at
The Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Dodson Allen; one daughter, Debbie Allen Teague and husband, Pete of Salisbury; one son, David L. Allen and wife, Sharon of Liberty; grandchildren, Cameron Teague and wife, Zerlinna of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Jordan Teague of Alexandria, Virginia, and Laura Allen of Raleigh; and one great-granddaughter, Lucy Teague of Moncks Corner; sisters, Pam Causey and husband, Charlie of Liberty, Pat Morgan and husband, Steve of Greensboro; brothers, Van Allen and wife, Mary Don of Liberty, Griffin Allen and wife, Mary Ann of Lexington and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky River Baptist Church Building Fund, 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Siler City, NC 27344.
