It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lou Etta Rebecca Williams Allred, age 86, of Julian, North Carolina, who passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, James Edgar "Jim" Allred; beloved son, Steve Allred; sisters, Mary Lee Hill and Lena Mae Staley; and brothers, Luther Williams, and James Williams.
Lou Etta is survived by her sons, Greg Allred and wife, Darlene and Chris Allred and wife, Amy; daughter-in-law, Nancy Allred; grandchildren, Brittany Allred (Dalton Julian), Meghan Allred, Hunter Allred, Eric Allred (Amy), Sarah Allred, and Sam Allred (Alanna); great-grandchildren, Payton Julian, Rylan Julian, Wyatt Allred, Davis Allred, and Max Allred; brothers, Charles Williams (Jeanette); sisters-in-law, Marie Allred, Sue Ekas (Ron), and Robin Allred as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
As a lifetime member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church, Lou Etta found great comfort in her faith. She used her musical talents as the church pianist and as a choir member. She contributed tirelessly to various committees over the years, embodying her dedication to her church family.
Beyond her religious devotion, Lou Etta possessed a remarkable array of talents and acts of kindness. Her talents were a tapestry of creativity, from her expert seamstress work, performing meticulous alterations, to crafting beautiful curtains, and bedding. She loved to garden, preserving the essence of each season through canning and her amazing cooking skills. A passionate gardener with a green thumb like no other, Lou Etta found great joy in tending to her flowers and gardens. Her love for nature blossomed in vibrant flowers, flourishing landscapes, and the many bird species that made their homes in her nature areas. Her love for her children and their spouses knew no bounds, they were often the fortunate recipients of the surprise “yard fairy” that stopped by while they were at work, leaving unexpected plantings, blooming flowers, and a touch of natural beauty at their homes.
Lou Etta’s legacy will forever remain in our hearts, a testament to a life well-lived. May she rest in eternal peace. She was a devoted and loving wife, a caring and loving mother, and a doting grandmother to the grandchildren she was so proud of and dearly loved.
The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to Martha Cranfill and Dawn Chouinard, Lou Etta’s devoted special caregivers who brought kindness and companionship to her. We are forever grateful for the love and joy they brought her. We would also like to thank All Generations for the exceptional in-home care provided to both Jim and Lou Etta during their last years.
