John Wagner was an incredable individual and dear friend. We met at Iowa State in 1976 as fellow graduate students. We were also Track and Field Graduate Assistants under Head Coaches Bill  Bergan and Gordan Scoles. John and I became very close. We shared an apartment from 77-79 and pretty much did everything together.  John was extremely intelligent, giving, and soft spoken. His HS Triple Jump picture is a fitting rememberance that brought me to tears, as I know how much passion he had for that event.  I wish our time would have been longer.  But life sent us in different directions. Jump on John Wagner.              

We knew John through my husband's brother, Dan Charter, who was in John's high school class.  They stayed in touch until the last 2-3 years. Dan is wondering if there is an obituary he could read. We did not know John well but always enjoyed visiting with him when Dan would come to Iowa and contact him. Such a great guy! We are sorry to hear of his passing.
