Irma was born August 10, 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri to Walter & Hazel Fisler.
Irma was 1st in her High School class and received a scholarship to a business college in St. Louis. She worked as at Monsanto Chemical Company as an Executive secretary and then Human Resources.
Irma met the love of her life, Dr. Joe Griffith, Jr. when he was in Chiropractic college in St. Louis. The family moved to Liberty where Joe practiced for many years. Irma’s favorite job was being a wife and mother. She was also involved in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Garden Club and numerous school and community activities.
Irma and family became members of Grace Lutheran Church after arriving in Liberty, NC. She sang in the choir and remained active until 2011 when she moved to Morningview Assisted Living.
Irma is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joe Griffith, Jr; parents, Walter and Hazel Fisler; brother, Bud Fisler.
Irma is survived by her children, James J. Griffith (Pat), Judith Griffith Rogers (Richard), and J.B. Griffith III (Lisa); grandchildren, Alison Griffith, James J. Griffith, Jr. (Kat), Jairus Griffth (Liz), Sarah Griffith, Micah Griffith, and Jadon Griffith; great-grandchildren, Ariel Griffith, Alex and Charley Griffith.
Irma was affectionately called “Momma G” by Jim’s children and “Iya” by J.B.’s children.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Liberty. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
