A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at The Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, 212 West Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty, NC.
Dean was the son of the late Lacy and Audrey Layton Hemphill.
He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Judy Smith Hemphill; sons, Kevin Hemphill and Jason Hemphill; grandson, Aiden Matthew Hemphill; and sisters, Shirley Smith, Marlene Watterson and Evelyn Lowman.
Dean served his country in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War. Later in life, Dean enjoyed helping others in his community by mowing yards. He was an avid guitar player and throughout the years, passed down his gift of music to his sons. He also enjoyed being a grandfather. Spending time playing with his grandson brought much joy to his life.
