One of the Lord’s beautiful children was called home. Belva Jean Simmons McVey, age 74, of Mebane died at her home on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Cane Creek Friends Meeting in Snow Camp, officiated by Marcus Wall; burial will follow in Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Cane Creek and other times at the home.
Belva Jean was preceded in death by her parents Willie Shockley and Eliza Ophelia Simmons.
She is survived by her husband, Monroe Junior McVey of the home, daughter, Marcella Jeanine Rice (Tim); son William Michael McVey (April); grandchildren, Grant McVey Rice (Chelsea), Stewart Oakley Rice, Logan Mychael McVey, Jaclyn Joye McVey; great-grandson, Lawson McVey Rice; sister, Gladyne Stout; brother, Larry Simmons (Margo) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Belva Jean was one of the fortunate ones, who loved people and spread sunshine and love wherever she went. She made a difference in the lives she touched and will forever be remembered for her kindness and warm smile. She was a member of Cane Creek Friends Meeting.
At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cane Creek Friends Meeting, 719 West Greensboro Chapel Hill Road, Snow Camp, NC 27349.
