Alfred M. Crutchfield, 93, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 after a brief illness. He was born in Chatham County, NC on July 25, 1931 to the late Charlie H. Crutchfield and Annie Dora Hudson Crutchfield. He attended local schools and was later a cadet at the Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia. Alfred served in the US Army from 1954-55, stationed in Germany.
Alfred spent the majority of his adult life in the automotive industry. He operated several gas stations in Greensboro, NC in the 1950's and was later a mechanic at Brockman Ford Tractor in Greensboro. He is best known as the owner of Crutchfield's Garage in Liberty, NC which he operated from 1980 until 2022.
Alfred was an avid Chrysler/MOPAR enthusiast and vintage car collector. He enjoyed attending local car shows and showing his cars in parades.
He is survived by his wife, Camela Crutchfield, of the home and five adult children, Charlona Stewart of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Lynn Hollyfield of Liberty, NC, Beverly (Doug) McGee of Gibsonville, NC, Mary (Ted) Bissette of Browns Summit, NC and Noland (Becky) Crutchfield of Siler City, NC; one sister, Peggy White of Siler City, NC; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Rocky River Friends Meeting Cemetery, 1795 Staley Snow Camp Road, Siler City, NC. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation following the service in fellowship hall.
