Steven Ray Barnes, 51, of Holt, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2024. A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:30pm, with memorial services to follow at 6:30pm, on Friday, October 11, 2024, all at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, 119 E. Franklin St., Liberty, Missouri 64068.
Steven was born September 23, 1973 in Smithville, Missouri to Jim and Connie Barnes, the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Kearney High School and then earned an Associate’s Degree from Missouri University with a focus on Fire Science. After graduation, Steve married and had a son, Wyatt Barnes. Later he married the love of his life, Jennifer Barnes, on October 6, 2020. Their son, Blake Barnes, was Steve’s best bud, he also loved Jennifer’s son Andrew as his own.
Steve enjoyed learning, he was always reaching for new knowledge and wasn’t shy about sharing it. He got hooked on video games after playing with Andrew and Blake. Steve was a story-teller, and wasn’t afraid to embellish now and then. Foremost in his heart was his love for his family and his faith in God. He was taking classes to learn to be a Chaplain and serve the Fire District and share his love for the Lord.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Connie Barnes.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Barnes; his children, Andrew Niemeyer, Wyatt Barnes (Hannah Rogers), and Blake Barnes; his grandchild, Silas Barnes; his siblings, Kim Mauk (Rick), Roger Barnes (Keva), DeAnna Seitz (Louis), Paula Delka (Mark), Lisa Kelly (Charles), and Crista Meyers; as well as many other relatives and friends.
