Sharon “Sherri” Ella Mace, 79, passed away on March 17, 2025 in Lawson, Missouri. A visitation will be held on March 22, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Church Archer Pasley Funeral Home, 119 East Franklin Street, Liberty, MO, with a funeral service immediately following. At the conclusion of the funeral service, Sherri will be laid to rest in Glenridge Cemetery on B Highway in Liberty, MO.
Sherri was born in Redmond, Oregon on June 13, 1945 to Lela and Laurence Svensen. She had many different skills and wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. As a child and teenager, Sherri and her family would move around the country to rehab dairy farms, buying them with poor ratings and turning them into top-tier farms before reselling them. Sherri was just as involved as her parents and if something needed done, she was there to do it. Sherri was well-known for her delicious down-home cooking by the cowboys who worked for her and her family, and carried on that skill as she made her own family.
As an adult, Sherri married her husband, James “Jim” Mace in 1983 in Excelsior Springs. Together they had one child, Barry. Sherri and Jim raised their son together until Jim’s passing in 1992. She was very skilled in fishing (especially salmon), home maintenance, riding horseback, and shooting (though she never much enjoyed hunting). She enjoyed more typical pass-times as well, such as gardening, crafts, crocheting, reading, and doing needlepoint projects. In addition to being a cattle farmer, she spent time working as a book-keeper for Diamond Lumber and Clay County Sanitary and Ditching. She also worked as a home health aid, which she was very proud of.
Sherri loved her family more than anything and was always there for them. When her mother became ill, she took care of her. She loved to cook for her family and provided them excellent meals. She especially loved her son, who she made many special memories with as she taught him everything she knew.
Sherri was hard-working and strong-willed, and she fought her illness all the way to the bitter end. Now she has been reunited with her parents, siblings, and beloved husband, Jim.
Sherri was preceded in death by her parents, Lela and Laurence; her siblings, Laurean (“Tootie”), Inga, Sherman, and Duane; and her husband, Jim.
Sherri is survived by her son, Barry; her brother-in-law, Art; her sister-in-law, Elsie; as well as a number of extended family members and friends.
