Roy Louis Lanio, 86, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, formerly of Liberty, Missouri, passed away February 12, 2025. A Celebration of his life will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Friday, February 21st at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, 119 E. Franklin St., Liberty, MO 64068. He will have Church services at a later date in Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the All Saints Memorial Garden Fund, 3 Jardinero Drive, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas 71909.
Roy was born November 11, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri to Carl and Eleanor Lanio. He graduated from North Kansas City High School on May 18, 1956 and then enlisted in the Army. Roy served at Fort Dix until January 10, 1963. After high school, he married Sandy Osburn and they raised two children, Wendy and Chris. Roy worked as an accountant, first with H&R Block, and later partnered with Bill Van Note at their practice in the Historic Downtown Liberty Square. He retired after thirty years in the accounting industry. Roy married Lila Kay Burnett on August 12, 2010. He loved spending time with his friends at the horse track and owned several racing horses over the years. Roy was an avid reader - especially science fiction and thrillers. He was a longtime member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kansas City, Missouri and was later instrumental in founding the All Saints Anglican Church in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Eleanor Lanio; and his son-in-law, Thomas Easley.
He is survived by his wife, Lila Kay Lanio; his children, Wendy Welsh, and Chris Lanio; his granddaughter, Jennifer Welsh; his brothers, William Lanio (Lois), and Tom Lanio (Annalee); as well as other relatives and many friends.
