Linda was born on October 12, 1945 to Thelma Catherine (Nickell) and Irvin Alexander Sebastian in Clay Township, located in Monroe County, Missouri. Her only sibling, Joyce Ann, was born April 13, 1948. The Sebastian family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, close to North Kansas City where Irvin had gotten a job with the Grinnell Company.
Linda attended Horace Mann Elementary, and in 1951 transferred to E. C. Merservey Elementary. When Linda was about ten years old she was baptized at the Southeast Baptist Church located at 45th Street and Kensington. In 1958, the family moved to North Kansas City where she attended Northgate Junior High School. Linda is a 1963 graduate of North Kansas City High School. While attending high school, she held part-time jobs with both the Woolworth Company and Kline’s Department Store. Following graduation, Linda obtained a job as a Stenographer. She also held various administrative assistant roles primarily with financial companies.
Linda took business courses at Maple Woods Community College and worked part time in their business department. Upon leaving her position at Maple Woods CC, she pursued a career at UMB Bank. She greatly enjoyed working at the bank, meeting bankers from all across the Midwest. Earning a National Securities Dealer Association Series 7 certification allowed her to sell government securities, which she was very proud of. Linda was successful in this role and retired in May of 2005 as a Vice President and Investment Services Officer.
Linda and Harold Edward Pearson were married on March 14, 1964. November 27, 1973, their first child, Ryan Arthur, was born. Their second son, Trent Irvin, was born April 6, 1977. They raised their family in the Kansas City Northland area where both boys attended Park Hill Schools.
After Harold’s retirement in 2002, Linda and Harold purchased their dream home in Lathrop, Missouri, well outside the hustle and bustle of city life. Linda was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending the spring and summer months growing vegetables and planting flowers. This is something she and Harold did together. During the winter months, Linda was always there for a new warm recipe to share with family and friends.
Linda enjoyed reading, listening to music, genealogy research and taking photographs. Most recently, she made a hobby out of digitally “hand” coloring old family photos. This became a passion of hers as she was always creative whether through painting, sewing or baking. Family has always been important to Linda and some of her best memories are vacations to Colorado and Yellowstone National Park. She was fortunate to spend a few big family vacations with her sons, their wives and her grandkids exploring the natural world.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Irvin Sebastian; her mother, Thelma Sebastian-Calder; and her stepfather, Robert Calder.
Linda is survived by her husband, Harold Pearson; her sons, Ryan (Tracey) Pearson, and Trent (Jenny) Pearson; and four grandchildren, Miles, Amelia, Brett, and Shane, whom she adored.
She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Payne, and many beloved family, friends, and loved ones.
