Kevin Louis Armstrong passed away on August 1 after complications from two serious strokes on Easter weekend and shortly afterwards. Kevin had been in hospitals and long-term rehabilitation and skilled care facilities since the strokes.
Kevin was born in Dodge City, KS on July 8, 1969 to Tom and Anita Armstrong. He graduated from Enid High School in 1987. He attended Ozark Bible College and graduated from Dallas Baptist University in 1994. Kevin also earned a certificate as a funeral director but discovered that fainting during embalming a serious obstacle to that career. But always liking people and being part of a team, Kevin worked in both the retail and restaurant industries.
Kevin moved from Dallas to Kansas City in 2019. A long time enthusiastic fan of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, Kevin had perhaps begun the complex task of becoming a fan of the Royals and Chiefs, having at least arrived in time to cheer the Kansas City Chiefs to their 2020 Superbowl championship. (About half of the family insists on that point in this article.)
Kevin met all people as possible friends. He enjoyed any good joke and loved to laugh. He always was up for golf, classical and modern musicals (being especially partial to “The Music Man”) and all sorts of food. He reportedly never cheated in any family card or board game. There may be more controversy about miniature golf.
Kevin was a Christian and member in churches through his whole life.
After his father’s serious strokes in Dallas, Kevin gave daily assistance to his parents and Kevin’s brothers are always grateful for it.
The family was happy to cooperate with the Midwest Transplant Network so that Kevin could continue to help many people even after his death.
Kevin was preceded in death by all of his grandparents and his father, Tom Armstrong and an uncle and aunt. He is survived by his mother, Anita Armstrong, his two brothers Gary and David and their wives and children, and an uncle and aunt and several cousins.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the family will have a private visitation in Liberty, Missouri at the Church-Archer-Pasley funeral home.
The family will hold a celebration of Kevin’s life on Zoom. Due to the impact of Tropical Storm Isaias on part of the family, the Zoom celebration will be rescheduled and the details are pending.
Kevin will be buried in Resthaven Cemetery next to his father in Duncan, Oklahoma.
The family looks forward to a journey to Duncan in a better time when they can gather and hug each other and laugh loudly standing right next to each other, leaving tears and flowers and laughter on a place holding the last earthly resting place of a much loved son and brother and his father.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the Dr. Anita Armstrong Endowed Scholarship Fund marked in Kevin’s memory in the comments box to this link at Dallas Baptist University (https://secure.touchnet.net/C20654_ustores/web/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCTID=2&SINGLESTORE=true).
