Ida McCart, 94, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away February 20, 2022. A visitation will be from 10:00-11:00am, Friday, February 25th, with funeral services to follow at 11:00am, all at Church Archer Pasley Funeral Home, 119 E. Franklin St., Liberty, MO 64068. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
Ida was born February 7, 1928 in McCook, Nebraska to Bruce Vann and Nettie (Stockwell) Gosseen. She graduated from high school and worked for a short time for a luggage manufacturing company. Ida married the love of her life, Clarence “Tubby” McCart, on August 5, 1946. They raised a family of five in Pleasant Valley area.
Ida was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She loved Jesus and reading the Bible. She also enjoyed gardening, especially roses, canning, drawing, reading, playing the piano, and crochet. Ida was an excellent seamstress and even upholstered furniture. She was known for her chocolate cake, her sweet relish, her ketchup, and her grape jelly. Ida’s greatest joy in her life was her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Clarence “Tubby” McCart; her five siblings, Harold Gosseen and his wife Eula Mae, Eva Kaneer and her husband Jim, Van Gosseen and his wife Lois, Marie Lyde and her husband Dave, and Dewey Gosseen; her son-in-law, Wayne Sims.
Ida is survived by her children, Linda Sims, Calvin McCart and his wife Debbie, Barbara Gilbreath and her husband Dale, Stephen McCart, and Judy Trammel and her husband Joe; her sister-in-law, Darlene Gosseen; her 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren plus one on the way; as well as many other relatives and friends.
