Grant A. Piepergerdes, 59, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away November 13, 2024. A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00pm, Sunday, November 24th at Church Archer Pasley Funeral Home, 119 E. Franklin St., Liberty, MO with a Celebration of Grant's Life to follow at 3:00pm. Private inurnment will be conducted at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Stewartsville, MO.
Grant was born January 7, 1965 in Iowa City, Iowa to Larry G. Piepergerdes and Margaret J. Piepergerdes Hansen. His lifelong pursuit of knowledge was natural and voracious. He graduated from Lee's Summit High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and German from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He studied German at the Goethe Institute in Prien, Germany. He then pursued a Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia completing his psychiatry residency in Portland, Oregon. After returning to the Liberty area, Grant joined Tri-County Mental Health Services, now Beacon, and practiced psychiatry for over twenty-five years.
He married Shannon Watt and they had twin sons, Owen and Wyatt Piepergerdes. Grant was a true family man treasuring the time spent together. Nothing was more important to him than his sons. He was a devoted dad and championed all of Owen’s interests, always attending practices, games, concerts or performances.
Grant was also an outdoorsman enjoying hunting, water and snow skiing, disc golf and paintball. He loved to barbecue and grill and was an avid reader and traveller. Music was another passion of his including playing the piano and saxophone and listening to a wide variety of songs.
His Christian faith guided him through the rough and calm seas in his life. His kind, gentle, compassionate nature was extended to dogs, friends, neighbors, patients and family. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry G. Piepergerdes; his son, Wyatt Piepergerdes; his mother, Margaret J. Piepergerdes Hansen, and her husband Ron L. Hansen; and his girlfriend, Andrea Hintz.
Grant is survived by his son, Owen Piepergerdes; his sisters, Amy Warren (Christopher) and Anne Armitage (Steven); his niece Louisa Armitage; cousins Joe Piepergerdes and Nola Edris; a brother of his heart, Darrel T. "Rock" Rocker; Owen’s mother Shannon Piepergerdes, his step siblings Kim Hale and Mike Hansen as well as many friends and relatives.
