Gladys Lavonne (Mose) McCracken, 92, of Kansas City, MO, passed away March 8, 2020. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Friday, March 13, 2020 at Church Archer Pasley Funeral Home, 119 E. Franklin St., Liberty, MO 64068. Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Saturday, March 14th at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Glenridge Cemetery.
Gladys was born January 23, 1928 in Independence, MO to Clifford and Thelma Mose. She graduated from Liberty High School. Gladys married her high school sweetheart, James McCracken, and married at twenty-one. She worked for Clay County Savings & Loan in loan processing, as the secretary & treasurer for Seafare Foods, and retired after fifteen years at Pony Express Bank.
Gladys was a long-time member of Community of Christ Church. She was on the building committee for the Church and was often in charge of the floral arrangements for the services. Gladys also participated in the Women’s department and vacation bible school. She loved to quilt, crochet, and arrange flowers. Gladys was an excellent seamstress and a wonderful cook. She was a gifted hostess and loved to entertain.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, James McCracken; her siblings, Walt Wisemore, Dean Wisemore, Norma Fields, Pat Shelby, and Pete Mose; her daughter-in-law, Debbie McCracken; and her granddaughter, Kaitlyn McCracken.
Gladys is survived by her children, Susan Clevenger (Dennis) of Kansas City, MO, Pat Vandergriff (Gary) of Texas, and Jim McCracken of Kansas City, MO; her grandchildren, Mark Reynolds (Stephanie), Clint Clevenger (Sue), Kelly Olson (Cameron), Patty McCracken (Dominic Velez), and Chris McCracken; her great-grandchildren, Peyton Reynolds, Rily Reynolds, Dominic James Velez, Gage Clevenger, Quinn Clevenger, Colin Olson, and Lathan Olson; her sister, Nancy Yearsley; as well as other relatives and friends.
