Edward had four children from his first marriage, Edward, Ameka, Brandi and Christian. He worked for the City of Liberty for ten years in maintenance before moving to the airport, where he worked for maintenance and he retired in 2013 as a Building Maintenance Supervisor after 19 years of service. Edward married Tanya (Phillips) Simmons in 2017 and they recently celebrated their fourth anniversary on New Year’s Eve.
Edward accepted Christ as his savior at an early age and was made a deacon of his church at sixteen. He was a former deacon and member of First Baptist Church, where he taught men’s Sunday school. Edward later attended Victorious Life Church, where he was an armour bearer to the bishop, and teacher for Men’s Sunday School and New Members. At his passing, he was a member of Landmark International Church.
He loved spending time with his family whenever he could and catching up on the phone when he could not. Edward enjoyed traveling, but he especially enjoyed relaxing at home. He loved watching television, going to movies, and participating in Church events.
Edward follows into Eternal Rest his parents, Edward Slaughter and Betty J. Slaughter-Blackwell; and his son, Christian Michael Slaughter.
