Donna M. Kelly (Schwabauer) passed peacefully Sunday, March 19, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Donna was born March 5, 1933, to Philip and Grace (Hall) Schwabauer in Hastings, NE. In addition to her parents, others who preceded her in death are her husband, Edgar N. Kelly, a brother, Robert Schwabauer, and stepson Gerald Kelly. Donna graduated from Hastings High School in 1950 and completed her RN in the nursing program at Hastings College, Hastings, NE. Donna touched countless lives as a registered nurse, providing her patients with excellent care. Her dry, witty sense of humor entertained friends, family, and medical staff throughout her life. In her nursing career, she cared for patients in Twin Falls, ID, Smithville, MO, North Kansas City, MO and Liberty, MO. She loved to sing, make up her own songs and her own song lyrics to popular songs. She crafted beautiful knitted, crocheted, and counted-cross stitch items as gifts for family and friends. She played the piano beautifully and took dance lessons from the age of three years into her high school years. Donna loved sports and was a life-long Nebraska Huskers fan, in addition to supporting the KC Royals and KC Chiefs. She spoke German fluently as a child and loved the Volga German family recipes handed down to her from her grandmother and aunts. She is greatly missed. She is survived by her daughters, Tracy Kelly, Karin Ellis (Dennis), her grandchildren, Brennan Dodson and Alyssa Dodson. Other surviving family members include her brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Barbara Schwabauer, step-daughter Norma Kelly, daughter-in-law Linda Kelly, step-grandchildren James Kelly, Sean Kelly, Brian Kelly, and David Kelly and their families as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
