Donald Charles Abbott, 82, native of Kansas City, Missouri area passed away October 28, 2014. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 31, 2014 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Don and his twin brother Ronald were born December 25, 1931 to Oscar Lott Abbott and Margaret Elizabeth (Shockley) Abbott in Fairmount, Missouri. As a left handed pitcher, Don was drafted by the Dodgers but was unable to play ball because he was drafted into service. He was a Marine Corp veteran. For a number of years, Don lived in California and had met Roy Rogers and other famous actors. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry Abbott, Ronald (twin) Abbott and Richard Abbott and one sister, Betty Mahan. Survivors include his sister-in-law, Shirley Abbott; niece, Michelle McCracklin; nephews, Richard W. Abbott and Dennis Abbott and nieces, Patricia Van Maele and Deborah Busby.
