Christian Stanley Rasmussen, 55, returned home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday July 31st, 2021. He was born on August 5th, 1965 in Salt Lake City, Utah to LeRoy and Linda (Jacobson) Rasmussen. He grew up in Sandy, Utah with his immediate family consisting of his mother, father and older sister, Julie, as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chris graduated from Brighton High School (UT) in 1984 where he served as Student Body President. He continued his education at Brigham Young University (Provo) and after attending for one year he chose to serve an ecclesiastical mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After successfully serving the people of Louisiana for 2 years, Chris returned to Brigham Young University where he studied in the field of Psychology. While attending school at BYU Chris worked as an equipment manager for the football team, where he was a part of the 1984 National Championship season.
Upon graduation, Chris relocated to Kansas City, Missouri with his son Jake, and there met and married his eternal companion, Shelli. Chris and Shelli were married in the Salt Lake City temple of the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-Day Saints on December 28, 1996. Chris and Shelli are proud to have four beautiful children: Jake, Nick, Brooke and Zack.
Chris was always an avid sports fan who wore his passion on his sleeve cheering for BYU sports, the Kansas City Chiefs/Royals and anything his children were playing. His competitive nature is fondly remembered as he challenged himself and others in the sports and games he loved to play, including basketball, pickle-ball, tennis, football, racquetball and anything where he could keep score. Chris especially loved playing and spending time with his beloved family members. Chris, a notorious foodie, loved exploring cuisine wherever he went and loved to bond with friends, co-workers and family over a plate of delicious food.
Chris, a beloved son, father and friend will be remembered for his many selfless qualities. A man who was always willing to serve his fellow man, Chris never said no to an opportunity to lend aid to someone in need. Faithful to the very end, Chris lived his faith, prayerful and thoughtful. Chris served faithfully as a seminary teacher for high school students and worked as a temple ordinance worker. Chris never withheld a kind word or an opportunity to uplift someone with his infectious smile.
Preceding him in death is his father, LeRoy. Chris is survived by his wife, Shelli, his children, his mother Linda, older sister Julie, as well as many adoring nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1130 N Clayview Drive, Liberty, MO on Thursday August 5th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
