Allen Scott Gallup, 79, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away in Pleasant Valley, Missouri on January 17, 2024. A funeral for Allen will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 10am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 6751 NE 70th Street, Kansas City, Missouri, just south of the Kansas City, Missouri Temple. Burial will follow the funeral service at White Chapel Cemetery in Gladstone, Missouri, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119.
Allen was born in Bassano, Alberta, Canada to James Scott and Pearl (Ockey) Gallup. He spent his childhood on a farm near Rosemary, Alberta.and attended Elementary, Junior High and High School in Rosemary, and attended one year at Cardston High School. Allen attended the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Education to become a Teacher. It was at University where he met the love of his life, Susan Wheeler, and they were soon married. After graduating from University Allen worked as a Junior High and High School Teacher in the towns of Claresholm, Nanton and Airdrie, Alberta.
Allen was a successful Basketball coach in every school he taught at and coached the Alberta Provincial Basketball Juvenile team for a time. He organized and coached High School Football and Minor Baseball in the town of Claresholm. After retiring from teaching he coached the High School basketball team in Magrath, Alberta. Many of the teams he coached were top ranked teams in Alberta and won or placed well at the Provincial level. Many players that he coached went on to play at the College and University level.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Allen served voluntarily in many organizations. After High School he served as a Missionary in the States of California, Nevada and Arizona. Multiple times he was asked to serve in the Youth organizations of his Church and also in leadership capacities of his Church.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Pearl, his son James Gallup, and his beloved wife Susan Gallup.
Allen is survived by his children, including Scott Gallup, Christy Coombs, Brad Gallup, Kari Perry, Michelle Woodruff, and Reagan Gallup; his grandchildren, including Nathan Gallup, Anna Running Rabbit, Rebecca Archibald, Holly Gallup, Brittany Gregson, Riley Coombs, Peyton Coombs, Sarah Coombs, Brooke Dromey, Jamie Gallup, Myah Gallup, Paige Gallup, Leah Gallup, Sydney Huxford, Aiden Perry, Grayson Perry, Ethan Woodruff, and Todd Woodruff.
