Obituary of Suzanne Woodruff
Suzanne Woodruff, 86, of Liberty, died Saturday morning, February 20, 2016 at her residence. A Liberty native, Suzanne was born August 6, 1929 to Carl Alonzo and Catherine Driggs Ridenour. She attended area schools and graduated from Short High School in 1947. Suzanne was married in Rising Sun, Indiana on August 2, 1947 to Harold Edward Woodruff, who died January 7, 2006. She was co-owner of the Little Villager Dress Shop. Suzanne’s favorite job was titled, “grandmother” and “great-grandmother.” Her home was always open to family and friends. Suzanne loved to travel, especially fond of her trips to Alaska. In her leisure time, Suzanne enjoyed tending to her flower garden. Suzanne is survived by her children and their spouses: Timothy Woodruff (Joy) of Liberty; Todd Woodruff (Rande) of Akron, Ohio; Julie Harlow (Kevin) of Trafalgar, Indiana; her sister: Billie Tweedy of Detroit, Michigan; her sister in law: Betty Ann Gulley (Larry) of Liberty; her grandchildren: Nathan Woodruff (Carrie) of Louisville, Kentucky; Jennifer Woodruff (Chad Marcum) of Liberty; Eric Woodruff (Meg Ruch) of Indianapolis; Kate Smeltz (Jeremy) of Hamilton, Ohio; Erin Schellenberger (Mike) of Akron, Ohio; Cody Wilcox; Danielle Wilcox; Zach Harlow; Oscar Harlow, all of Trafalgar, Indiana; her great-grandchildren: Kade and Quinn Stephens of Liberty; Monte, William, and Lydia Schellenberger, all of Akron, Ohio; Lori, Lanie, and Noelle Smeltz, all of Hamilton, Ohio; Brody, Colin, and Sean Woodruff, all of Louisville, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband of fifty-eight years, Suzanne is preceded in death by her sisters: Jeannette Pentecost and Martha Poushe. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty where memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Foundation. A Celebration of Life will be held following the service at The American Legion where lunch will be provided.
