Joyce was born April 22, 1951 at Reid Hospital, Richmond to Everett and Betty Singleton Conner. She married the love of her life, Bobby J. Johnston, at the College Corner Nazarene Church on June 7, 1969.During Bobby’s military career, they traveled throughout the United States and overseas including Germany and Okinawa, where she learned to speak German and Japanese. Joyce was currently employed as a Direct Support Professional at Benchmark Human Services, Connersville. For the last fourteen years, her favorite thing about working at Benchmark was the ability to help people. Joyce will be remembered for her caring, generous nature and the love she had for her family. She attended Woodland Bible Church. In her leisure time, Joyce greatly enjoyed making ceramic art and Facebook, including feeding her ducks on Farmville.
Joyce is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Bobby J. Johnston of Liberty; her children: Robert E. Johnston and his wife, Billy of Liberty; Angel Johnston and her companion, Carl Brown of Liberty; her grandchildren: Alex, Joe, Chelsea, Gracie and Chance; her siblings: Randy Conner; Jean Conner and his wife, Julie; Jill Mullins and her husband, Tony, all of Brookville; Janice Kelly of Connersville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Everett and Betty Conner; Joyce is preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law: Robert L. and Sally L. Johnston; her siblings: Jimmy Conner and Judy Miller; her sister-in-law: Donna Conner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. Interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 until the time of service, Friday where memorial contributions may be made to the Woodland Bible Church.
