David was born in Union County on October 29, 1946, to Harrison and Marie Riall Tanner. He graduated from Union County High School and served his country in the U. S. Navy. David retired from Stant Corporation in Connersville. David was a member of the VFW Post #1472 and the American Legion Post # 122 and attended Everton Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, NASCAR racing, playing horse shoes; and karaoke.
David is survived by his children and their spouses: Tonya Tanner of Greenfield, Travis Tanner and companion Holly of Knightstown, Jason Tanner and Lisa of Rushville, and Bryan Tanner and Cassie of Missouri; five grandchildren; three brothers: Paul Tanner of Brownsburg, James Tanner and Helen of Hot Springs, AK, and Kenneth Tanner of Lawton, OK; three sisters: Betty Richardson and Darrell, Pat King of Shoals, IN, and Anna Marker and Rudy of London, KY; sister-in-law Shelia Tanner of Abbeville, GA; brother-in-law Ron Rench of Chattanooga, TN. several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Ronald Tanner; two sisters: Pam Rench and Rachel Stidham; a brother-in-law Willie King.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, with Rev. Scott Bell officiating. Military Rites will be conducted at the funeral home by American Legion Post # 122 and VFW Post # 1472. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors.
