Betsy L McGowan

Betsy was born in Milan, Indiana, on Saturday, August 17, 1946, to Herman E. and Helena Clara Bockhorst Jobe. She graduated in the 1965 class of Connersville High School. Betsy married Arlus “Mac” McGowan on Saturday, August 20, 1988. Betsy worked at housecleaning and together with her husband owned and operated McGowan Trucking. She was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Connersville. Betsy enjoyed working in her flowers, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Betsy is survived by three sons: Bruce Reece of Jacksonburg, Ohio, Clyde Reece and wife Dawn Renee of Richmond, and Marty Ridge and wife Kim of New Paris; two daughters: Ruth Ann McNally of Liberty, and Debora Sue Phillips and husband Mike of Richmond; a sister: Linda Lundy and husband Bob of Connersville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Betsy was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Rhonda Sue Marcum.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty, with Pastor Norman Dew of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in West Point Cemetery in Liberty. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of the service.
