He served in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy. He started as a USNR for two years, and then went to the Marine Corps for four years where he served in Okinawa, Japan and Camp Pendleton, California. He worked at Southern Plastic in West Columbia, SC where he retired after 20 years.
Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanette T. Ayers; brother, James V. Ayers and son, David Potter.
He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Olson; daughter-in-law, Nancy Potter; sister, Kay Motley Bundrick; granddaughter, Audrey Olson; numerous grandchildren; nephews, Melton Bundrick, Sr. and William V. Ayers; nieces, Tonya Ayers and Sherry Ayers along with numerous great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Southland Memorial Gardens Chapel of Hope.
