Walter Edward Newman II, 91, of Lexington, SC passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 14, 2020 and is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
Walter was born 1929 in Ocean Township, NJ to Walter and Viola Newman. He was the oldest of four children. Walter was a Paratrooper for the US Army, belonged to the 187th Airborne Rakkasan Regiment, and was a Korean War Veteran. Walter worked for A&P and Foodtown for a total of 50 years. After retirement, he was a School Bus Driver in Ocean Township, NJ and later in Lexington, SC. He was a member of Wayside Fire Company (NJ), Hamilton Fire Company/Fire Police (Neptune, NJ), American Legion Post 346 (Neptune, NJ), Calvary Chapel (Old Bridge, NJ and Lexington, SC). He loved woodworking, camping, football, fiddling in his yard and spending time with his friends and family.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alan and first wife, Conchietta. He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Barbara Newman; siblings, Joan (Jim) and Eunice; his loving children, Mary Lou (David) and Walter III (Susan); precious grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason), Jessica (Darren), Kelly, Colleen (Andrew), Charles, Madalyn and Walter IV; beloved great grandchildren, Layla, Austin, Taylyn, Kynlee and Greyson.
Walter is also survived by his stepchildren, Linda (Peter), Phillip (Rachel) and Cheryl (Alfredo); step grandchildren, Elijah, Valentina, Noah, Makayla, Braxton, Gabriella and Jacob.
