Virgie Elese Addy Fulmer Shealy entered into eternal rest Wednesday, August 21, 2024. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Lexington, SC, on Sunday, September 1, at 3 p.m. The family will receive visitors following the service in the church social hall.
Virgie was the daughter of the late Rev. James Virgil Addy and Mrs. Murttie Elese Fulmer Addy. Virgie was the sister to the late Doris Addy Langley. She is survived by her brother, Rev. James W. Addy and wife, Celie; daughters, Elese Fulmer Cegelis and husband, Bill, and Norma Denise Fulmer; grandchildren, Bryan Cegelis and wife, Jessica; Justin Cegelis and wife, Meghan; Sara Towson, and Joshua Towson; great-grandchildren, Parker Cegelis, Aaron Cegelis, Cole Cegelis, Evans Cegelis, Landon Cegelis, and Baker Jeffords. Virgie is also survived by her husband of 34 years, Frank Leroy Shealy, of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Virgie was born in Savannah, GA, grew up in Graniteville, SC, and as an adult lived up and down the east coast, spending her last 25 years as a resident of Lexington, SC. Virgie was a loving mother and a creative homemaker who enjoyed crafts, sewing, reading, dogs, and babies. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and sister, having visited all 50 states. Her favorite times were spent with family. Virgie enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, watching sports, The Price Is Right, Elvis, and eating chocolate ice cream. She fully appreciated the value of a coupon. Virgie never wanted for anything and always appreciated what she had.
Her daughters would like to give special thanks to the staffs of The Legacy of Lexington Assisted Living, Lexington Medical Center, Lexington Medical Center Extended Care and MSA Hospice for Virgie’s care and comfort.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, Chapin, SC or to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church Preschool, Lexington, SC.
