Tyler Edward Sims, 19, of Lexington, passed away on August 15, 2018. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Lexington, South Carolina, Saturday, August 18, 2018, with Pastor Nathan Graggs officiating. The family will receive friends and family immediately following the service.
A graduate of River Bluff High School, Tyler was employed at Jakes Landing Boat Marina. Growing up, Tyler enjoyed participating in Boy Scouts and Zion Lutheran Church's Youth Group. He was an avid sportsman, loving both fishing and hunting. His favorite hobbies included playing his guitar and spending time on the lake with his "brothers". His kind spirit was cherished by many and will never be forgotten.
Tyler was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Dale Gurnell, and paternal grandmother, Sandra Ellis. Tyler is survived by his mother, Kimberly Carole Gurnell; father, Brett Edward Sims and step-mother Kimberly Heaitley Sims; grandparents, Elizabeth Seale, Ronald and Evonne Sims and Nandalyn Heaitley; siblings Tristen D. Hoffman, Chancelor S. Cotten, Huntington N. Cotten, Regan A. Sims, Bransyn R. Williams and Chasen M. Williams; aunts and uncles Maxie Feuerstein, Amanda Heaitley and Donna Riggens, Meredith Mitchell, Mark and Rachael Rhoden, Michael Sims, Laura Strickland and Lanie Uschelbech; special cousins, Riley and Walker Mitchell and Shelton and Conner Rhoden.
Pall bearers will include his best friends and brothers: Chancelor Cotten, Cody George, Jamie Hunt, Austin Pollard, Chadd Roof, Jordan Porth , Jake Spears, Nash Thornton and Romley Wallace, III.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Youth or a charity of your choice.
