Thomas Lee Kleckley, 91, of Lexington, SC, was called to his eternal home on September 13, 2022. A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will follow the service in the Family Life Center.
Mr. Kleckley was a graduate of Lexington High School, and he served as vice president and general manager of SMI-Owen Supply Company where he was employed for more than 40 years. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served on church council and was a member of the Hilltoppers; Committee of 100; and Lutheran Men in Mission (LMM), through which he received the Saxe Gotha Conference Lutheran Man of the Year and SC LMM Distinguished Service Award. He was a member of Eastern Star, Chapter 176; Shriners; Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina, Lexington Lodge 152, where he received a fifty-year membership certificate; and Pineview Ruritan, where he was twice awarded Ruritan of the Year, was named Outstanding Club President, received District Award of Merit, attained 50 years perfect attendance, and was named Ruritan Forever. He was a graduate of Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Citizens’ Academy, served as a Lexington County Juvenile Arbitrator, and received the Sheriff’s Award for service to the citizens of Lexington County. He was a founder of Boy Scout Troop 425, and he twice received the BSA District Award of Merit and achieved a Lifetime Service Award.
Born on October 14, 1930 in Lexington, SC, Mr. Kleckley was the son of the late Harry Wade Kleckley and Aris Drafts Kleckley. Mr. Kleckley was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Thelma Louise Price Kleckley. Left behind to cherish his memory and celebrate his life are a son, Russell (Rayna); precious grandchildren, Kara Willis (Zach), Jenna Hobbs (Adam), and Joel Kleckley; and beloved great-granddaughter, Ada Willis; as well as a brother, Wyman Kleckley, and a sister, Betty Jo Corley (Edward).
Mr. Kleckley’s greatest joys were spending time with family and friends, helping his community, working in his garden, and hunting. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
