Sarah S. Harmon

Sarah Starkey Harmon, age 42, of Leesville, South Carolina, a bright spot in so many lives, passed from her husband’s side into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 21st after a tough “Fight Hard” battle with illness. Sarah was born in Irmo, SC to the late Col. David Starkey and Rebecca “Becky” Willis Starkey.

Sarah graduated from Columbia College where she received her Master’s Degree in education. From there, she began her many years in education, bringing light into so many children’s lives at Nursery Road Elementary, Leaphart Elementary, HE Corley Elementary, and Rocky Creek Elementary. Sarah poured her heart and life into serving others at Radius Church, where she loved her small groups and living out life with her close friends. Sarah loved traveling with her family, watching her kids play all the sports, and cheering on her Georgia Bulldogs.

Her devoted husband of 18 years, Jesse, and the “G Squad,” the children who brought her so much happiness (Georgia, Graham, Grady, & Gaines), will forever remember the shining light she brought into their lives each day. Her brother, Joshua Cameron Starkey and nieces Ruthie and Nora will miss her dearly. Her in-laws, Jimmy and Ken Harmon, along with innumerable family and friends that Sarah impacted in all areas of her life will remember her with deep joy, since “joy” is what Sarah brought to everyone she met.

Sarah was predeceased by her parents, Col. David LeRoy Starkey and Rebecca Willis Starkey.

Her family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to everyone who has shown love and support throughout Sarah’s cancer journey.

A service to celebrate her beautiful life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Radius Church-Lexington, 300 W Main St Lexington, SC 29072.
