Dell was born September 28, 1943, in Richland County; she was the daughter of Gladys Gunter Phillips and S. M. “Boss” and Addie “Pearle” Lorick. She was a lifelong resident of Lexington County. She was a 1962 graduate of Lexington High School and a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
Dell retired from the US Postal Service after 45 years of service where she started as a mail handler at the Assembly Street location; she was one of the first three female employees and earned the position of Human Resource Specialist. She was a lifetime member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church where she was devoted to serving the church. She served on the Pilgrim church council, WELCA Leah Circle, Prayer and Share, Prayer Shawl Ministry, in the church nursery, taught Sunday school and was active in her S.A.L.T. group.
Dell enjoyed spending time on the family compound on Andrew Corley Road, celebrating holidays and special events surrounded by her entire family with home cooked meals. You could often find her traveling the roads to the mountains, visiting family in Florida, or taking her mom on adventures - such as the Newberry Opera House or a cross-country trip to Washington State.
