COLUMBIA- Ronald E. Thigpen of Columbia, SC, age 81, passed away on Saturday, April 7 2018. He was born in Sumter, S.C. and grew up in Eau Claire and was the youngest of three children. Ronald served in the Navy but spent most of his adult life working in the home building industry. Ronald managed Stier Building Supply in Irmo for over 20 years before retiring in 1993. He was an avid fisherman but loved spending most of his free time working in his yard and planting flowers.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bettie, his two daughters Melanie Ragland and Cindy Thigpen-Williams, their husbands Tim Ragland and Adam Williams, his grandson Alex Coker and his wife Beth and their 3 sons, Andrew, Trevor and Ronnie, and his sister Barbara Riley.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Caughman- Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel at 12:00 noon. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Ronald will be buried at The Elmwood Cemetery following the service.
