Norman W. Gaines

LEXINGTON – Funeral service for Norman Wayne Gaines, 77, of Lexington, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with interment in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Mr. Gaines was born in Mundy TX., July 31, 1936 and passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014. He was the son of the late George Larkin Gaines and Elba Alexander Gaines. Norman worked as a Chemical Engineer with Union Carbide and was a consultant to the Government of Saudi Arabia, was a member of the Lions Club, Board Member at Ohio Valley University and a member of Lexington Church of Christ. He also attended Abilene Christian University and Oklahoma University.

Surviving are wife, Lynn Hughes Gaines, children, Jeff Gaines (Margaret) of Dallas, TX., Kathy Lanham (Jeff) of Lexington, Daniel Gaines of Waterbury, CT and Cynthia Gaines of Irmo; grandchildren, Kelly Hardin (Billy), Adam Lanham (Mallory), Amber Gaines , Jeremy Gaines (Kelsey) and Jordan Gaines; great-grandchildren, Billy, Ava, Kacy, Mattie Carnelle, Emma, Damian and Leah; brothers, Jerry Gaines and Dennis Gaines both of CA. He is predeceased by in-laws, Arthur and Virgie Edwards and beloved wife of 40 years, Betty Edwards Gaines.
