WEST COLUMBIA – Our beloved mother, Mary Barton Faust, 84, left this life on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, to be in heaven with her husband, Dr. John W. Faust, and son, Charles Barton Faust. Her adoring family misses her already. Her family has fond memories of their best friend and marvelous mother, along with their unique and humorous family stories where mom stayed center stage, will always be re-told and cherished.
Mrs. Faust was born in Shelby, OH, in 1926 to Bishop Lane and Mary Barton. She was a life-long Episcopalian and attended Stevens College in Missouri. She married Dr. John W. Faust in 1947. Mrs. Faust was married to him for 48 years before his death in 1995. She moved to West Columbia in 1970 with her husband, eight children and two dogs, spending the rest of her life gardening, crafting and quilting.
Mary Faust is survived by her children, Mary Baumert and husband, Ken, of Emmaus, PA, Elizabeth Kemp and husband Dale, of Lampasas, TX, John W. Faust, III and wife, Julie, of NC; daughter-in-law, Margie Faust, Ann Spires and husband, Zane, of Lexington, SC, Susan Faust, of Charlotte, NC, Helen Faust, of Columbia, SC and Thomas Faust and Judy, of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Olivia and Christina Baumert, Melissa Kemp, Caroline and Katherine Faust, Nicholas and Tarah Faust, Stephanie Granger, Sonya and Jay Spires and great-grandson, Hunter Granger.
The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2011, at the family home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors, woundedwarriorproject.org, or Pets, Inc., petsinc.org, are requested.
