Gaston, SC – Martha Lynn Bickley Rowell, 59, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She peacefully made her transition from this life to her heavenly home and into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Martha was born March 26, 1959, a daughter of the late Herman Eugene and Emily Penfield Bickley. She was a devoted employee of Reimbursement Consultants Inc. (RCI) for 31 years and a former employee of Ellett Brothers, Inc. She was a faithful member of St. Barnabas Orthodox Church, where she was a past president of the parish council and current treasurer. She had a profound love for her Lord, her church, and her family.
Martha is survived by her husband of 19 years, Kent C. Rowell; fur-baby, Gus; sister, Lea Ann Bickley (Bryan) Lucas; two nephews, Daniel E. Lucas and James L. Lucas; fur-niece, Daisy; uncles, Herbert (Ellen) Penfield, Jimmie (Betty) Penfield, Ryan “Chumpy” Penfield and Andy (Bobby Jean) Bickley; aunts, Betty Jean (Clyde) Lester, Linda (Hewitt) Grant; dear family, Allen and Sherrell Ott, Judy Lowrey, Cheryl Reynolds and Paulette Sheppard, dear friends, Don Metz, Guy Bradley, and a host of family and
friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, December 18, 2018, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Columbia, SC, with interment at Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia, SC. Visitation will be held at the Cathedral at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Kenny Bickley, Troy Grant, Kevin Shealy, Larry Penfield, Leslie Penfield, Allen Ott, Will Reynolds, Mikey Lowrey. Honorary pallbearers will be James R. “Yogi” Benton, Jimmie “Lin” Penfield, Jr., Joel Bickley, Chris Boozer, and current and former employees of RCI.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Elizabeth Lebel, Dr. Mohamed El Geneidy and his staff at SCOA, the staff of Palmetto Health Baptist IICU and 8th Averyt/Hospice Unit for their excellent care; to Lisa Gillespie, Sheri Ellett Martin, Cheryl Reynolds, and Renee’ Epting for their dedicated help, and to all who have expressed their love and support to Martha.
