Marlene Taylor Park, age 86, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1430 North Lake Drive, Lexington, South Carolina 29072, with a visitation to follow in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1430 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072 or the SC Autism Society, 806 12th Street, West Columbia, SC 29169.
Marlene was born on October 18th, 1936 to the late Elise Pound Taylor and James Rufus Taylor. She was a 1954 graduate of Lexington High School where she was in the senior play and was a cheerleader. Marlene completed her X-Ray Technician Certification at Baptist Hospital and upon graduation was employed at Aiken County Hospital. She served as secretary of Oak Grove Elementary School for many years, where she was loved by both students and staff. She received an Award of Honor from the National School Public Relations Association for her work in support of education. She was a long time member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was part of the Altar Guild, was a youth group leader, and a member of Prayer and Share. Marlene was known far and wide for her amazing biscuits and sugar cookies.
Marlene is survived by her sons, David Park (Jane) and Robert Park; daughters, Cheri Park Smith and Christy Park Addy (Ricky); five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Taylor (Mariann); and sister, Judy Taylor Cramer (Bruce).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert E. Park; brother, James Taylor “Bo”; and sister, Vivian Bailey.
