PELION – Marion Patricia “Snook” Courtney Slice, also known as Mama, Nana and Miss Bud, went to her forever home with Jesus on March 4, 2019. Snook was born January 22, 1937 to the late Thomas and Eula “Miss” Courtney in Hephzibah, GA.
She was the widow of Willie “Bud” Slice, and had been married to Bud for 42 years at the time of his death.
She is survived by sons, Willie “Mack” and his wife, Becky, of Gaston, SC; Perry and his wife, Kathy, of Pelion, SC; daughter, Annette Chaplin of Saint Helena Island, SC; son-in-law, Johnny Chaplin of Pelion, SC; three grandchildren, Janice Keisler and her husband, John, of Gilbert, SC, Courtney Slice of Pelion, SC, Saxby Chaplin, IV of Saint Helena Island, SC, and eight great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to Rhonda Herron and Brenda Sturkie for being such wonderful caretakers for Mama during her time of need. An extra special thanks to Dr. Ben Levinson, Ms. Tina Dinkins and the crew at SC Internal Medicine, Irmo, SC.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at 210 Lou Dunbar Road, Pelion, SC. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to SC Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of your choice.
