LEXINGTON - Lewis Edwin Watson, III, 74, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Lenoir, NC to Lewis Edwin Watson, Jr. and Jean Watson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Lewis Edwin Watson, IV and his brother, Robert Watson.
Lew’s life will be forever remembered and cherished by the love of his life, wife Ninette; son, Heath Watson (Crystal); step-daughter, Giselle Hayes (Chris); daughter-in-law, Leigh Watson; grandchildren, Luke, Matt, Sarah, Savannah, Carleigh and Lana; sisters, Lynne Bradford, Holly Piercy (Fred) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lew attended Appalachian State University and served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. After a successful career in sales, Lew retired in 2012 from Hargray/Data Publishing of Hilton Head Island, SC.
Lew’s greatest pleasures included golfing, USC football, Rock -n- Roll music, reading and spending time with his family and friends. He was also an avid WWII buff. Lew was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle and will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in memory of his son, Lewis Edwin Watson, IV to ALS Association of North Carolina, 4 North Blount St. Ste. 200, Raleigh, NC 27601.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 2:00 - 5:30 p.m. in the Eli Mack Room at the Lexington Municipal Complex, 111 Maiden Ln., Lexington, SC 29072. Family and friends are welcome to attend, share memories and pay tribute to a special soul.
