Kenneth E. Brazell

He is survived by his loving family: son, Gregg (Kim) in Leesville and daughter, Karen (Randy) in Gilbert; grandchildren, Kalyn Thibault (Brandyn), Ryan Brazell, Tyler Brazell, and Peyton Loper (Ansley Robertson); sisters, Aris Brazell in Lexington and Lurie Miller (JL, deceased) in FL, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Brazell and Geneva C. Brazell; siblings, John Brazell (Betty), Alma Rutledge (James), Betty Lou Sweat (Aaron), and Vernon (Jewel) Brazell.

He resided in West Columbia, SC until ten years ago when he moved into the Lexington area. He was a hard worker until the day he retired. He loved to fish at Lake Murray and local ponds. He traveled to Myrtle Beach several times a year to meet with fellow fishermen/women from all over the country to fish from the different piers. He never met a stranger, especially in the fishing department of a store.

He loved his family, and they loved and adored him beyond words. He always enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He was always smiling, which earned him the nickname of “Smiley” from some of the nurses who cared for him in recent years.

He will be remembered as a simple, hardworking man who read his Bible every morning, had integrity, compassion for others and a gentle and kind heart. Simply the best daddy, granddaddy, brother, uncle and friend anyone could ask for, and we feel blessed to call him ours. He will be missed every day, but he is free from the grip of dementia and we find joy in knowing that he is in peace.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lexington Extended Care for helping to take care of him these last few years, and to Lexington Medical Center for caring for him and showing compassion to his family during his last days.

Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
